Win a BlackRapid Camera Strap

Every once in awhile a great partnership comes along. That's what it is like working with Zenfolio. It is a partnership, it's not a business selling a service to another business. Zenfolio works with you, listens, and takes action to improve your ability to do what you do best, capture images. They take the guess work out of sales. Sit back, relax, your partner has your back, go make those images happen. And, while you are at it, strap on a BlackRapid strap to your camera, and you'll be in the game and ready for action quicker than ever before.

It's all about partnerships.

Dugan gave us quite the scare!

So we went to the barn today, headed out a little late because I had to do my front brakes. We got their around 3ish. We said our hellos and were talking with folks there, Michaela went out to the pasture to get Dugan. She brings him in, and they make room in the barn to hook him up. He started to have a coughing fit. So bad, that he almost went down. Cindy quickly gave him some albuteral, to see if it would help his breathing. Michaela brought him out to get some grass and see if he'd calm down. Meanwhile, Cindy called the Vet to see if they were on the road and could stop in. She was, and stopped in, by the time she got there, Dugan was munching on grass and breathing alot better. The vet checked and she could hear him wheezing. She determined that it was the right course of action to give him the albuteral. She gave him a shot of predenisone and He is now on a Predenisone treatment, with the albuteral. We turned him out to the upper pasture, and he went running around like a little kid at an amusement park. It was a great relief to see him acting himself. Hopefully his lungs were just a bit worn out from coughing the last couple months due to the dryness. And we won't have any long term medication needs.. but if so....

Vacation and then some...

So vacation started off a bit wet. It was raining as we were trying to get all the last minute stuff into the trailer, didn't get my oil change done in time.  We headed out around 2pm.. was hoping for 1, but not bad considering the rain.  Got out to Hammond Lake and it was nice and clear. We had a great first night, though I was wiped.  Friday and Saturday were great days, beautiful out and we just relaxed both days. Michaela and Hollie were playing the different games we have in the camper. Nikki and I were back and forth with reading and just relaxing.

Hurricane Irene was working her way up the coast, and hit on Sunday. We got some rain and maybe some 20-25mph gusting winds, but that was about it. Reports came in from home that we had lost power. My parents ended up staying home to run the generator so they didn't loose all their food. Our power came back on Monday, and Mom and Pops came over to check on things. A little water in the basement, but frig and freezer were good.  They still didn't have power.

Monday was another beautiful day at the lake. Started typing some of my book and read some more. Took some walks and relaxed some more.  Waited for word of when my parents would get there.

Tues, got reports my parents had power, but no word on when they'd be there. Called them late Tues only to find out my Dad didn't want to make the trip, but was going to try and get into the campground that were were going to be at for Labor Day, early. What a bummmmm.

So we gave up on the family, and just made the most of it. We went fishing, did some hiking on the archery trail, the girls brought their bows and did really well.  Had fun catching lots of fish, nothing big, but lots of fun.

Nanana was just a bear the entire time, barking at everyone and everything.  Turns out, she went into heat on thursday... We were not expecting this until November... Dog in heat, small trailer.. not good.  She doesn't understand why she isn't allowed on the furniture.

So in all this, I ended up throwing my back out on Monday, it was really bad when I woke up tuesday, and my legs collapsed under me. Thank GOD I was in the trailer and had something to hold onto.

We brought the canoe and kayak, and didn't even get to use them since my back went out. Couldn't carry them.  Had all I could muster to get them on the roof of the truck to head out on Friday.

The trip from Hammond Lake to Lake Ontario was nice. We rode 53 miles along the finger lakes.  What great views and wineries up the wazoooo. We left Hammond Lake around 11, and got up to Lake Ontario around 4ish.  What a disappointment  Going from nice paved sites with little rock picnic area's and plenty of room to tie out the dogs and play in the grass.. to being cramped on a rocky site. And the smell coming off the lake was really horrible.  But we don't let anything get us down. We made the most of it.  Didn't get to fish Friday night like we wanted to.

Saturday, we ended up going to Thousand Islands and Boldt Castle. Nikki stayed behind to watch the dogs and relax and read.. Here headaches were bad all week.  The girls loved the boat ride to the castle and the castle itself.

Sunday we entered the fishing contest and fished until noon, caught only Goby's and perch, which we didn't think were game fish so threw back. Ended up that perch counted, I had snapped a picture of mine against my pole, and they accepted that. I took 1st place, I think it was only me and Nikki who entered.  We all got hats and the girls also got Hershey bars.. we had a good time though.  We broke for lunch, relaxed some, read, and then went back out to do some more fishing.. Didn't catch anything big, but saw a really huge fish swim by. So at least we knew they were out there.

Monday headed out around 11 am, had some issues with the truck on the way home. but made it by around 5.  Hollie slept over and I dropped the kids at school on Tues. Tues night I dropped all of Hollie's stuff off at her house on the way home from Newark.  Crazy driving though, since alot of the roads were still closed or flooded from Irene...

Happenings

So it's been a week. Still trying to get the trailer ready to go. Had to replace the kitchen faucet since it froze and cracked during the winter. Not too bad overall.  Got the hitchhall and bike rack mounted. Kids closet is done, with new hanging clothes holders.  Propane is filled, and new "larger" battery is fitted.  Leaving in a few days, for some nice R&R, very much needed.

On the Nanana side, she finished up her training, of ObII.  Instructor didn't think anyone was really ready to move on, so it'll be OBIIa if we have the money just after labor day.  She had a couple of really good, long days in the house that she didn't do anything. Then BAM!!!!!  Last night she eats the remote for the new TV $$$$$$$$$$.  Got the new remote, Logitec 650, all programmed up and functioning. Gonna look at turning in the remove from the cable company to save a few bucks.

Tried to mow the lawn and ran over a sweatshirt that was buried in the lawn.... didn't get to finish, since it is now wrapped around the blade, I'll have to pull off the deck when I get back and pull the blade to get it off.. Guess I'll take the time and sharpen the blades at that point too.

As always, Nikki and I couldn't be happier together. Just wish we could figure out what is causing the headaches so she doesn't have to suffer with them.  It's nice having her here all the time, but not under these circumstances.  Quickly approaching 14 years of married bliss. Hopefully we will be able to save up enough to celebrate 15 years with a trip to Alaska next year.. Here's hoping.

Hectic is the word

So big party at Aunt Dar's on Saturday the 6th. Then it was up bright and early (4am) Sunday to head down to Brian's. Packed up the dogs and picked up Connor from moms and we were off. Got down to VA about 1pm. We were planning on going to Kings Dominion, but it was around 97 degrees in the shade.  So we just hung out and caught up on lifes events.  Worked from Brian's house on Monday, and heading home at 4pm. Leaving Michaela to enjoy her Aunt, Uncle and cousins. She seemed to have a really great time. Her posts on FB were entertaining at times...  It is very strange when she isn't around though.

Threw my back out on Tues, so couldn't do Nanana's training wed.. Will need to make up for it tomorrow, since it is raining today.

so, Friday comes, and I work the early shift, and we head back down to VA.  Stopped at DB deli and not only did it waste a lot of time, but we had the worst sandwiches ever from there (new girl doing the deli).  We got down to VA around 11pm.  Got to bed around 1am.. Got up early since I needed to go to Harbor Freight for a part for the camper.

Harbor Freight was a success, so I headed back to no one ready to head to KD.  So Nikki and I ran out to Vitamine Shoppe looking for a gluten free bar for Nikki.  We found and few and she picked up a chocolate peanut butter... (It was grass with dark chocolate around it..) needless to say she didn't enjoy it.

So off to Kings Dominion we go, we found the season pass vip parking, which is really close to the gate. it was a long hot day, it poured for about 2 hours and they shut down everything except the indoor stuff.  We still had a great time.  Left around 9ish, and had Cracker Barrel for dinner(a very late dinner). Got up Sunday and Brian had to go to work. We showered and went shopping with Annette. Picked up some stuff for the camping trip coming up.  Got back to their house around 6 and then packed up and headed home.

Got in around 3am this morning, and am sooooo exhausted. Luckily worked from home. Now watching TV with the Mrs... just chilling and enjoying our time together.

More later.

and the Training continues

Nanana did great today. We had our first off leash stay and come. She did great.. me however, bent over too soon, and was corrected. understandably, you don't want to bend over too soon and make the dog think they may have done something wrong, or think it is play time. Which is usually what I do with her when I call her over, play time....  She is getting her left hand turns really well, with the back statement, and allowing me to make the left turn.  Her stand is getting better, but still needs work. She does well as long as I have the food, need to work on the stand/stay, when I stop she just wants to sit..  All and all I couldn't be more pleased.. I also used the martingale all night instead of the prong which I think is a major improvement also.  Night Night.

Giving up on Hopes and Dreams

It is a really sad day, when you realize your hopes and dreams for making it in a business of your own go down the drain.  This could possibly cause my midlife crisis to start.  I know we always get lots of compliments on our work, but compliments don't pay the bills. Spent over 5K getting ready and couldn't even get that paid off in 3 years, let alone recoup enough to replace equipment if it were to fail.  :-(

Been Crazy Hectic

Finally got the camper back home. Bees were horrible, Pops said he saw over 50 come out of the air conditioner housing. Had to spray them and unbolt the unit and clean it up.  Cleaned the side without the door and it came home.

Saturday was Brandon's grad party, had a good time, but it was really hot.  Nikki went down to her God-daughters bday party with Michaela, they also had a great time.

really tired and exhausted though.

Plans are made for Camping at the end of August, and looks like we might be going from Tioga to Thousand Islands to camp with Jody and Nancy.  Mom and Pops are coming to Tioga, they got 50% off their stay with the federal parks card. not bad. Billy and Claire may also join us in Tioga, should be a really great time. Michaela is bringing Hollie

The Day

Hot day, got up early to check the pool, and could finally see the bottom. Lots of leaves and dirt though. Going to try and get the wife out to help me vacuum tomorrow morning before the sun gets really hot.  Went over to my parents to continue cleaning the trailer. Washed the awning, front, back, and the side under the awning. Will need to scrub the "non door" side tomorrow or friday.

Very wiped and sore.

Working on the travel trailer

Well less than 40 days till our camping trip. Towed the trailer over to my dads, since he has a paved driveway. Got up on the roof and scrubbed it. It is amazing, with all the rain that there still forms a layer of grime. Discovered one small crack in the fiberglass where it meets the roof in the front. Will need to epoxy it.  Hoping to get to the canope and the body tomorrow.

The pool remains unswimmable. Put more shock in today, will check on it in the morning.

Loving the miui.us for the od droid.

Need some VG.

Sleep

Been up since 6:30.. went to sleep at 1.... What's with that?  Body says it needs sleep, mind says, I got too much to do.... ahhhhh

Change is good

OK, the more I think about it, the more I need to change this blog.. so, new name... old link. Gonna go get the droid and try out the new mobile features and email posting.

It's just what I'm thinking.

Didn't realize the time

Can't believe I haven't written anything in 3 years... WOW. Alaska, as my last post mentioned was really great. Our daughter loved it, and we are still hoping to move there some day. I need to work on a website to host the pictures.. or a page on my current website. I also still need to print a lot of them for my wife who has been very patient waiting to do her scrapbooking of the trips we have taken. The photography business is really bad right now, not getting the sales that we thought we would. Probably going to go back to just hobby status. Really makes me sad, as I really love taking pictures of people and capturing their special moments. We'll see how things go.
